If you want to take some time out from relaxing in the comfort of Owl Cottage there are many areas and activities to explore. To find out what's on in the immediate area please visit the South Molton Tourist Office website or Visit Devon for attractions further a field. Horse riding is a popular activity in the area and tuition can be arranged directly with Collacott Riding Stables or Boldtry Stables in the neighbouring parish of Chulmleigh where the novice or an experienced rider can enjoy some riding in the immediate countryside. The nearby Tarka Trail, a disused branch line, is a great place to explore and cycle hire can be arranged through Tarka Bikes or you might like to bring your own. As well as great walking, cycling and horse riding the area is famed for its excellent fishing and shooting during the seasonsNo stay in Devon is complete without a visit to a country pub. A short walk down a cobbled ally brings you to the Grove Inn, which has served the local community since the mid 1600's. Named South West Dining Pub of the Year in December 2008 the Grove is renowned for great food using locally sourced ingredients from either field or shore. If food's not what you want why not chat with the locals and enjoy one of the many real ales (CAMRA listed since 2007), a Devon cider, a glass of your favourite wine from their extensive wine list or one of the 38 single malts on offer. If you fancy a night off from cooking while staying at home the pub even offers a delivery service to the cottage!To ensure that your shotgun is secure during your stay the Grove provides a gun safe exclusively available to residents of Owl Cottage.
